Pastor's Pointe

Blog date: 9-03-2008

That’s all it took ?

The giddy, knee-jerk reaction of Dr. James Dobson and others within the Evangelical community over the choice of Sarah Palin for the Republican nomination for vice president is one of the most embarrassing things I’ve seen since the parade of fools lined up behind “W” eight years ago. Sadly, I was one of those lining up behind Bush, but I’ve repented since then. I finally came to realize that the Christian community had been patsies for the Republican Party for many years and they’ve played us like a garage-sale guitar.

Pastor Wiley Drake, who is Alan Keyes’ vice presidential running mate, even said, “Sarah Palin might bring me back to the Republican Party.” See what I mean? This is embarrassing. Remember when James Dobson said he’d never vote for John McCain? That’s all it took? Nominating Sarah Palin? Now, Dr. Dobson is endorsing John McCain. And all the Dobson “ditto-heads” comply (sigh). That’s all it took?

Nothing personal against her, I guess she’s a fine Christian, I don’t know her. But even if she is, how does her nomination change anything? How many “fine Christians” have we had in Washington for the past 35 years ? Since Jan. 22, 1973 (Roe v Wade), we’ve had many “fine Christians” serving in Congress, the Senate, the Supreme Court and the Presidency. And now Sarah’s nomination brings joy to the Christian Camp? That’s all it took ?

This isn’t meant to undermine anything Mrs. Palin has done in her political career nor to accuse her of being a bad mommy because of her unmarried, pregnant, teenage daughter. Some of the best Christian homes suffer what they are suffering now. That is NOT the point. The point is that Christians and Christian “leaders” have, once again, predictably, jumped on the Republican bandwagon with absolutely no regard to truth. Nothing has changed in the Republican Party. They are still controlled by the CFR, special interest money, self-seeking politicians and the World Bank. Power is all the party seeks, not righteousness. And it needs your vote to keep the power.

From the moment it was announced that she would be McCain’s running mate, I’ve wondered why, if she is such a conservative, pro-life, pro-gun, pro-family and freedom of religion proponent, would she even consider running with such an “anti” all of those things ? I’d be campaigning against him, not campaigning with him!

We’re always given the same "song-and-dance" during election years. We’re told what they know we want to hear. The Christian buzz words are dusted off and once again are implemented for the benefit of the gullible, church-attending voters. Modern-day Christians desperately want to be relevant. We’re looking to be validated by politicians that don’t give a whit about us, nor our “convictions."

Yet, like a battered wife, we remain faithful to an abusive Party. We’ve become political “enablers." We’re not willing to see the out-of-control abuser in the Republican Party. Instead we look at the neighboring party and condemn it for its “liberal” ways. We call them names and seek support from other gullible, conservative enablers in our effort to justify our voluntary battered condition. We think, “at least, the abuser has provided us with a home, a meal and some sense of security. And while it does go beyond its Constitutional limits, at least, it’s ‘our’ conservatives and not ‘those’ liberals.” ... Huh, I said, HUH?

And just when we think that the sleepy-eyed Christian is about to wake up, the Republican Party does it again--along comes Sarah Palin! Isn’t it obvious what is going on here? The Republican Party needs the Christian vote. So, they remind us how pro-life, pro-gun, pro-Christ they really are. We wake up long enough to pull the “R” lever and back to sleep we go.

And just like an abusive husband’s promises to change are believed by the battered wife, so are the promises that are made by the Republican Party also believed by the compliant battered Christian voter.

Yes, Sarah Palin is the abusive party’s promise to change. And that’s all it took. All it takes is a promise from an abusive husband to keep the battered wife home. All it takes is an implied promise from the Republican Party to keep the battered Christian voter in the Republican Party.

We are so undiscerning that even the obvious isn’t obvious anymore.

It’s truly sad to see the battered wife excuse the abuser husband as she continues to enable him because she feels she has no place to go.

We Christians are to be “wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” We’ve got the “harmless as doves” down pat. It’s the “wise as serpents” that we can’t seem to get a handle on.

What should we then do? Divorce!!! Divorce yourself from the Republican abuser and join yourself with the Constitution Party. We are determined to make our government officials comply with the Constitution or they cannot govern. Our Constitution must be obeyed by our government. Tyrants cannot be tolerated.

No political party deserves our support if it will not hold our government accountable. All government servants must obey the Constitution. The future of our Country is at stake. The future of our children is at stake.

Will you continue to enable your abusive party ? Or will you finally say “enough is enough” and leave the abuser (promises and all) and join up with real Constitutionalists?

We have the solution. The Constitution Party Candidate: Chuck Baldwin.

Join the Constitution Party www.constitutionparty.com

Vote for Chuck Baldwin for President www.baldwin08.com

He will “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

I know, you think things will change. Based on what? The same promise we’ve been given for the last 35 years? Isn’t it obvious to you, yet ?

Nothing has changed in the Republican Party. It’s still the abusing husband that it’s always been. The question is: Will you remain as the battered wife ?

So Sarah Palin is on the ticket. Now everything is going to be alright from now on. Right? That’s all it took.

An Appeal to the Christian Community

Chuck Baldwin is running for the office of the President of the United States.

Who is Chuck Baldwin ?

Just in case you don't know who Chuck Baldwin is, let me direct you to his web site: www.baldwin2008.com.

Chuck Baldwin is the ONLY candidate running for President who truly would "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Why is that so important?

The Constitution is to govern the government. The government of the United States has not been obeying the Constitution, and neither has any recent President. We must elect a strict Constitutionalist to the office of the President if we expect to preserve our "unalienable rights."

I appeal to all of you who consider yourselves Christians. We the People through our Constitution have delegated certain enumerated powers to the Federal government. The government of the United States is bound to those enumerated powers and no more. It has no authority to take authority that wasn't delegated by the authority (we the people) through the Constitution. Anything our President, the House, the Senate or the Judicial branch does beyond the scope of the Constitution, is unlawful. That means that they are breaking the law. They were given specific "do's." If the Constitution doesn't say they can do something, then they cannot "do" it.

Or in other words, anything that the Constitution does not prescribe, it proscribes.

Who's the real authority?

Romans 13 demands that they (government) "be subject to the higher powers." In America, we the people ARE the higher power (authority). And we are "the authority that be ordained of
God" (verse1). If the government "resists the power, (it) resists the ordinance of God" (verse 2). And "shall receive to themselves damnation"(verse 2). If our government is not subject to the Constitution, it's in direct disobedience to the people. How many pulpits are declaring that today, huh? Not many.

We are to preach the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27), brethren. We are to be preachers of righteousness (2 Pet. 2:5), so, preach righteousness!!! The creature (government) is be subject to the creator (the people). We didn't create the U.S.
government to become its slave. We are the real authority, pastors.

Chuck Baldwin will obey the Constitution. He will see to it that the rest of government will likewise obey the Constitution and we the people will once again enjoy the freedoms that our Founding Fathers wanted to secure for us through the Constitution.

The Declaration of Independence, the Constiution of the United States and the Bill of Rights (constitutionally ratified) are the law of the land (along with any treaty persuant to the Constitution, meaning: in accordance with, not in violation of) (Article 6, U.S. Constitution).

First Peter 2: 13 says, "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake." The Constitution is the supreme ordinance of man in America and it must be obeyed by the government. We the People and especially we Christians ought to see to it that it does. As Christians, we honor God's Word in demanding that our elected officials obey the Constitution. They are to be subject to us, through the Constitution. We are not their subjects. In America, we are "Caesar" (Matt. 22:21). We are the real authority.

Isn't it too late to change things ?

It's not too late ... yet. Besides, all that has to change is us. The Constitution is the same, we just need to demand that it be obeyed.

It may be too late if we don't take our responsibilities seriously and our God-given rights back.

How do we do that ?

Throught the ballot box.

At this point, we need a true Constitutionalist in the Executive Office. Someone with no political ambitions or lust for power. Someone with the desire to fulfill righteousness in an unrighteous arena. We need someone who values life, the Word of God and the Constitution of the United States. We need a man of integrity who would honor an oath given to God
himself. That man is Chuck Baldwin.

Please learn what the Constitution says. Learn how our obedience to the Word of God leads to our demand for our government's submission to the Constitution. The U.S. government has failed in obeying the Constitution because we the people have failed in insisting that it did. And we the
people have failed in our insistence because we Christians have not been engaged in the process with a spirit of righteousness. Righteousness demands that our government obey the Constitution. Chuck Baldwin will righteously pursue the interest of the people.

What else can I do?

Consider getting involved in the campaign to elect Chuck Baldwin for President.

Please also donate generously. We're up against Goliath. You don't have to be a member of the Constitution Party to get involved in the Baldwin campaign, you just have to be FED UP!!!

This is an account of an e-mail I sent out encouraging folks to go and watch the movie Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed and a response by crossroadmc@aim.com and then my reply to his e-mail. I posted it here because I didn't want this conversation to continue on the Constitution Party e-mail group. I've invited those folks to come here to listen in if they care.

(This was my first e-mail dated 5-05-08)

My wife and I went to watch the movie Expelled last week. One of the writers and the movie's star was Ben Stein. We thought he did an excellent job on the film. You probably don't want to take your kids to this movie because of some old film footage of piled-up dead bodies back during the Third Reich (it doesn't last long).

There is no nudity (other than the nude dead bodies), there are no obcenities and there are no distasteful, uncomfortable periods in the movie that would make you wish you hadn't attended. It is not for entertainment purposes either. It's informative and educational. It will make you furious at times and glad at other times.

Generally, I agree with this critic. It is worth a few bucks to go see it. Warning: if you walk in too early, you'll be subjected to all those coming attractions that will make you wish you hadn't attended. Wait until the actual show time before you walk into the theatre.

I recommend it to any Christian who needs a jolt of reality (that's probably too many of us). By the way, there is Baylor, a Baptist university in Texas, that makes it into the movie as a particular university that won't allow anything but the teaching of Darwinism. It may still be Baptist but it quit being a Christian university a long time ago (remember Clockwork Orange?). This same university houses the George W. Truitt Baptist Seminary. What a contradiction!

Let me know what you think. OK?

Pastor Romo

P.S.
I'm a young earth creationist. I don't even like the term Intelligent Design, but you'll lose the point of the movie if you focus too much on that.

(This is the reply by crossroadmc@aim.com on 5-07-08)

I do not normally reply to this group, but all I wish to say is this: You can be a saved, Bible-believing Christian and know that evolution does not contradict Christ or His Holy Word. The most troubling thing about Christians is their tendency to discard reason, logic, philosophy and science in favor of faith, when they could use those things in conjunction with faith (thus leading to a more satisfying spiritual and intellectual life).

God does not call us to be ignorant of our world, nor how the evidence points to its formation. Pray tell me, how precisely would an "evolved" world and a "literal six-day created" world really matter in the scheme of salvation? Would Christ not die for us just the same? Is the "image of God" really a physical, finite body, or is it a spirit? I believe the latter. God is not a Divine Charlatan who created the Earth with the appearance of age to fool scientists into believing they were living on a 4.5-6 billion year old planet in a 14.5 billion year old universe.

As Christians, it's good to be different from the world, but we cannot remove ourselves from it. How can we witness if we are not living among the people to whom we preach? Jesus lived with sinners and ate with them. How can we preach to the world if we are rightly ridiculed for our notion that faith and science cannot exist in tandem, one explaining the how and the other the why? Those with no credibility cannot teach, cannot be effective for the kingdom. Accepting science shows the non-Christian that they do not have to ignore reason to have faith.

****************************

(This is my response on 5-08-08)

Well, I stirred up somebody's nest. You say you don't usually reply to this group, but you felt compelled to respond to this issue. It must be troubling indeed.

First of all, my e-mail was not a support of creationism. I mentioned it in my post script as a way of reminding the readers that if we were not careful, our own views might make us miss the point of the movie. The point of the movie is that the evolutionists have now so convinced themselves and the state school administrators that evolution is factual, that they now don't even allow the Intelligent Design view (a view I do not share) or the Creationist view (that's me !) into the debate. Those professors who dare to bring up the possibility of an intelligent designer, are summarily expelled, thus the movie title, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.

One of the reasons I don't care for the ID approach is because it leaves it open for anything with "intelligence" to be the possible "designer." Intelligent beings such as creatures from outer space, or some other off-the-wall mental construction of the God deniers, can be the designer. If you watch the film, you'll see where that is the case with some. They are willing to believe that aliens from outer space came and seeded the earth millions of years ago, before they will acknowledge the possiblity that "In the beginning GOD created the heaven and the earth." One of the professors being interviewed even acknowledged the "aliens" possibility (ah-h, intellectualism, don't leave your mind without it). So the ID view can be manipulated to mean anything (Planet of the Apes, anyone?).

Now, you mention in your e-mail that a person can be a saved Bible-believing Christian and know that evolution does not contradict Christ and his Holy Word.

I suppose that is possible. I'd hate to have that sort of evidence in my life as proof of my salvation, though. But nevertheless, it's possible.

Even the most carnal Christians in the Bible, the Corinthians (I Cor. 3:3), believed certain things that were totally in contradiction to the Holy Word. One Christian believed (with the church's blessing) that he could live in incest (I Cor. 5). Yet Paul (before he corrected their error) had started the letter with calling them "church of God," "sanctified," "saints," "called," "brethren," etc. So, yes, it's possible to think you "know" that evolution doesn't contradict Christ and his Holy Word and still be a Christian. In chapter 3, we see where the Corinthians are even undermining the church's foundation with their popularity contest between Paul, Apollos and Cephas. These "saints" were involved in the beginnings of a heresy and Paul corrected it by stating that Jesus was the foundation.

So, yes, I suppose a man could be saved and think he "knows" that evolution doesn't contradict Christ and his Holy Word and still be a Christian. As a matter of fact, the Corinthians had a multitude of wrong ideas about themselves and their beliefs that the Apostle Paul had to correct. Yet, they were Christians. So, yes, it's possible to think that you "know" that evolution does not contradict Christ and his Holy Word, but it would be in spite OF Christ and his Holy Word, not because of it, thus negating your "Bible-believing" adjective. Nowhere does the Bible imply that it took millions of years to create the earth and the universe. You'd have to be a conjecture whiz to get that out of the Bible.

You also state that the most troubling thing about Christians is their (my) tendency to discard reason, logic, philosophy and science in favor of faith.

My faith is supported by evidence, not reason, logic, philosophy or science. The evidence of my salvation is the new birth experience resulting as a new creature, based on the evidence that Christ (John 3) stated and confirmed by his Holy Word (2 Cor. 5:17) and the fruit being a deep desire to know, to love, and to do God's will (John 14:15-31). No reason, logic, philosophy or science, just evidence.

The evidence that Christ and his Holy Word presents about the earth, the heavens and all his creation is just as overwhelming. As a matter of fact, it takes reason, logic, philosophy and pseudo-science to discard the evidence. Real science cannot prove nor disprove creation or evolution, neither can real scientists. Pseudo-scientists can present arguments based on belief (faith) but they cannot prove it. Sadly, the real proof will be revealed in the last day. But then it will be too late. But I guess since they don't believe in heaven or hell, it really won't matter, will it ?

By the way, the word science means "knowledge" in Latin (but you already knew that). True science is observable. We gain the knowledge of biological truths by observing and studying living organisms. We can determine how it lives and reproduces and defends itself, etc. We can then document and state our findings, scientifically (or with knowledge). We know certain scientific truths because we observed them over and over and over again.

Pseudo-science claims to know certain facts (evolution) because it knows some other facts (biology). It has plenty of evidence for the known facts, but then they try to apply it to the unknown facts. Then you throw in a handful of geologists whose heads are as hard as the rocks they study, and "VOILA!" you have evolution. Now, how's that for reason, logic, philosophy and science, huh ? Man, it doesn't get any better than this.

Sorry, but that thar pig won't fly.... You keep chunkin' that thang up in the air all you want ... BUT IT AIN'T GONNA FLY !

The fact is, it takes faith to believe in Creation (Heb. 11:3) (or ID, for the timid Christians) and it takes faith to believe in evolution. My faith in creation is based on the evidence given by the testimony of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ in his Holy Word. Your faith in evolution is based on the testimony given by sinful, fallible and unbelieving man. The testimony I'm relying on is from the one who created the heaven and the earth (Gen 1:1, Isa. 42:5, 45:18, Ps. 19:1, Jn.1:1-4, 10, Col. 1:16,
2 Pet. 3:5, Rev. 4:11,etc.) The evolutionists' faith rests on the testimony of Charles Darwin, Carl Sagan, Stephen Gould, etc. and their reason, logic, philosophy and "science." The Bible doesn't teach about a God of evolution but man teaches about an evolution that denies God.

You also ask how precisely would an evolved world and a literal six-day created world really matter in the scheme of salvation.

Well, it has to do with credibility.

How can you trust someone with your very soul if you can't trust him to tell you straight-up whether a day of creation was a 24 hour day or a thousand year day or whatever ?

Here's some logic. If God is writing this account for man to understand, would man understand a day as a 24 hour day? Or would man understand that God created the heaven and the earth over thousands or perhaps even millions of years (through the process of evolution, of course)?

When he says,"the evening and the morning were the first day," do you suppose that Moses was thinking, "God really means millions of years"? He wrote "evening and morning" precisely to convey, without a doubt, he meant a 24 hour day. Or perhaps God was thinking, "Their scientists should be able to figure out that I meant millions of evolutionary years."

Then we come to the issue of man and woman being created (as in "creationism") in the image of God. Our first grandparents were created innocent and with a volition to accept or reject God's commandment. Then Satan, who isn't even recognized in the evolutionary myth, comes along and tempts our grandmother to eat of the fruit. After her deception, then along comes our grand-daddy and eats also and "sin entered into the world" (Rom. 5:12) by him.

Now, you may not think that an evolutionary worldview really matters, but it seems to matter a whole lot within the scheme of salvation as far as I can determine. Granted, I haven't employed a whole lot of reason, logic, philosophy or "science," but It just sounds like to me that it matters. If sin entered the world through Adam whom God created and then the Second Adam, Jesus Christ, the Eternal Son of God, comes to redeem us from sin and death, it seems to me that creationism matters in the scheme of salvation.

There is no room for sin in the evolutionary myth. They deny the Creator, they deny creation, they have to deny sin, thereby denying the need of a Savior and denying the need of the scheme of salvation. If evolution were true, salvation would really be just a scheme. Is that logical enough for you?

We have the evidence, but just to show you how primitive my faith is, if God had said that he created everything in an hour instead of six days, and he offered no evidence to support it, I'd still believe it. Yeah, that's right, no reason, no logic, no philosophy, no science, just faith. "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Heb. 11:6).

You also state: "God is not a Divine Charlatan who created the Earth with the appearance of age to fool scientists into believing they were living on a 4.5-6 billion year old planet in a 14.5 billion year old universe."

Again, I point you to the evidence. The conclusions that these "scientists" reach are based on presuppositions of their atheistic training and predetermined by their unbelief. They are not seeking after the truth. They have plenty of evidence.

Romans 1:18-25
18 For the wrath of God is revealed(evidence) from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth (evidence) in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known (evidence) of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them (evidence).
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen (evidence), being understood by the things that are made (evidence), even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations(evolution), and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise(reason, logic, philosophy, science), they became fools (psuedo-scientists),
23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things (sounds like evolution to me).
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:(it's not dishonorable if we evolved)
25 Who changed the truth of God(creation) into a lie (evolution), and worshiped and served the creature (their theory) more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

The evolutionists aren't trying to accomodate God, why do you try to accomodate the evolutionists? Evolution by its very nature is a God denying theory (Ps. 14:1). The hatred that these "scientists" hold for God has so overpowered them that they will not themselves accept reason. How reasonable is evolution, really? When Carl Sagan was asked about the origin of the earth, he stated that he believed that the earth itself was eternal. What? Based on what evidence? No evidence, he just wasn't about to admit that he had run out of answers. That is the only logical answer he could come up with. Logic? Yes. Truth? No.

As to the earth's appearance of age, it's the foolish evolutionary scientists who have decided to believe that the earth is millions of years old. Many Creationists conclude differently while examinig the same evidence. And yes their worldview has a lot to do with it. As a matter of fact, our worldview has a lot to do with every bit of our thinking and beliefs. That's why we should be conformed to the "image of Christ" (Rom. 8:29) and have the "attitude of Christ" (Phil. 2:5). You seem to be impressed with the evolutionists and not impressed with God. Even the fossil records point to a sudden catastrophe like Noah's flood. But you've probably reasoned your way out of that one by the allegory route. Hey, it's evidence.

Before I became a Christian, I was an evolutionist. I believed that we had evolved from a pit of primordial crud that had collected through millions of years. And with the warm water and just enough oxygen and the stagnated goo that had settled, we began to evolve. Where did the water and goo and oxygen came from? Ask Carl Sagan. There was a time when I felt that I was unfairly excluding God, so I made him the originator of the entire senario, not knowing that there was already a name for that foolishness: Theistic Evolution. Man, what a fool I was. Once I got saved, those rejections were laid to rest. Why? Because they had been rooted in rebellion not science. And I no longer was an enemy of God but his child.

Yeah, you're right about not being ignorant. Hosea 4:6 says,"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." We need to be concerned of the willful ignorance that we nurture. God says we'll be destroyed because we reject HIS knowledge, not some half-baked, slip-sloppy theory that God-denying atheists have concocted.

Man, there's no excuse (Rom. 1:20) for compromising God's Word. It's the absolute TRUTH (John 17:17).

You say that we are "rightly ridiculed for our notion that faith and science cannot exist in tandem." The reason we are ridiculed is because of our hypocrisy. The world may be lost, but they are not stupid. They can pick out a hypocrite a lot quicker that we Christians can. They know when we are trying to be worldly cool and it comes off as plain silly and hypocritical to them. They are embarrassed for us. We're not impressing anyone with our Theistic Evolution. We're being ridiculed because of it.

You must stop believing that the world is going to accept you because you claim to believe in the silly myths that pseudo-intellectuals fabricate in their evasive attempts to eliminate God from their consciences. True science investigates, psuedo-science intimidates. No, you've got to proclaim, "Thus saith the Lord !" Yeah, fear of ridicule has paralyzed many a Christian and rendered them pretty much useless. Some will say nothing to contradict, others will say anything to conform.

The Bible has already given us the how of creation (remember, six days ?). Science cannot tell us the how of origin, only the how of reproduction. But psuedo-science promises more than it can deliver. Psuedo-scientists are not satisfied with God's six days of creation because of their rebellionagainst God, so they contradict, just like the serpent in the Garden.

I believe God literally when he's literal and understand his parables as he unfolds them and reap from his allegorical (figurative) pronouncements. Any Christian with a sense of humility, love and discernment can understand the Word of God. He must be teachable like the Bereans in Acts 17:11 but not gullible.

And yes, Jesus ate with sinners and was called a friend of sinners but he never adopted the sinner's worldview. He didn't sin with the sinners, He didn't excuse the sinners, He wasn't shamed into believing man-made philosophy and junk science however reasonable and logical it might have seemed, just to be accepted by the sinners. No, He was true to the Word. "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ" (Col. 2:8).

The desire of some to be accepted by the world has led them to accept the world's "wisdom."

I Cor. 3:18-21
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

James 3:1
My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
(Paraphrase : "Don't many of you pretend to be teachers for we shall be judged more severely.")

My prayer is that you reconsider your position,

The Real Work Begins

Blog date: 4-28-08

The excitement and suspense is over in Kansas City where the Constitution Party decided on its candidate for the President of the United States of America.

That man? The pastor of Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, Dr. Chuck Baldwin. http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/

His vice presidential running mate is Darrell Castle, an attorney from Memphis, Tenn.

After it became apparent that Dr. Ron Paul would not get the nomination of the Republican Party, Pastor Kevin Thompson (who was also a Ron Paul supporter) began a campaign to draft Dr. Baldwin as a candidate for the Constitution Party. I wholeheartedly agreed and joined in on the effort to convince Dr. Baldwin to consider the possibility (see my previous blog below dated 3-07-08). To our complete delight, our prayers have been answered.

Now the real work begins.

First, prayer must continue to precede and accompany everything we consider in our campaign for Baldwin for President. Without it, we might as well stay home. Along with that, we must make sure that we're right before our Lord. Let's make sure that our motives are in line with the Word of God (I Cor. 10:31, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.") and then within the principles of our Constitution.

Next, let's be faithful in our local churches. Let's not deceive ourselves into believing that we can be negligent in our responsibilities to our brethren in our local assemblies and still think that God is going to honor our political efforts: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Heb. 10:25).

If our local churches ever needed exhortation, it is NOW. The Christian community is a GOOD community. Christ died for that community, and we must NOT treat it with contempt. The Lord Jesus Christ ordained the local church, primarily, for his spiritual work, and we must be a part of it to fulfill the Great Commission. Be faithful in attendance, in service and in your weekly financial giving so that the work of the Gospel can continue AS we continue to work for righteousness in the political arena. The Lord can also use you within your local church to help others see their responsibilities as earthly citizens and be the "light of the world" and the "salt of the earth." Be consistent, be compassionate and by all means, be patient. How long did it take you to "snap out of it"?

The third thing we must do is spread the word. We Christian Constitutionalists must be in tune with the promptings of the Holy Spirit and not equate the constitution WITH the Bible. The constitution is a man-made document, albeit Bible-based, but man-made, nevertheless. The Bible is a God-breathed document without error. It cannot be amended; the Constitution can. As we spread the word for the Constitution Party, let's keep in mind that we never put away our Christianity. We're Christians when we campaign, when we attend church, when we shop, when we work, etc. It's OK to take advantage of opportunities to share the Gospel through a word of personal testimony or even a full-blown witnessing session if the situation presents itself. And if you're in tune with the Spirit, and the situation presents itself ... you'll know it.

So, let's spread the word and let's spread THE WORD.

The next thing to keep in mind and be diligent in doing, is to donate money to the campaign to elect Dr. Chuck Baldwin. He'll be putting up a campaign website soon where you can donate toward his campaign and we'll let everyone know when it's up and running. There are big guns on the side of the liberals and the neo-cons. Millions upon millions have been donated and will be donated to their campaigns as the season rolls along. So dig deep and dig often.

The last thing is this: Contact all your Ron Paul meet-up groups. Let them know that we have a real constitutionalist running for President in the Constitution Party. Get them to attend your CP State Convention. Have them seriously consider joining the Constitution Party and become a part of the third largest and fastest growing political party in America. Have them go to your state's CP website and the national web site.
Here is South Carolina's web site.

Ask them to read the platform online. If they agree with the platform, then they're left with no other choice.

The South Carolina Constitution Party Convention will take place Saturday, May 10, at 9 a.m. at the Marriott Hotel at One Parkway East, Greenville, SC 29601. Click here for a map.

The registration fee will be $10 for CP members and $25 for non-members. A buffet breakfast is included at 9 a.m. with the convention starting at 10 a.m. If you're in Anderson County, please call me at 864 269 1443 or e-mail me if you're planning on attending. We may be organizing a carpool-convoy from South Pointe Baptist Church.

If you're in Greenville County or in another part of the state e-mail your reservation to pilgrimjos@gmail.com

We are expecting a great turn out and a great time. Get excited about the possibilities!!

My choice for President

Blog date: 3-07-08

Now that John McCain has sewed-up the Republican nomination (to the delight of all the neo-cons, was there ever any doubt ?), and there's no one left who could be considered a Constitutionalist (except for Ron Paul, who is Ron Paul?), it's time to consider a Constitution Party candidate. Dr. Paul has said many times that he would not run as a third party candidate, ok?

So, now that he's no longer a choice (never really was, to the GOP machine), let's consider seriously, for a moment, who could be the kind of person who would represent our Constitutional convictions with the passion that the Founding Fathers exemplified?

My choice would be Dr. Chuck Baldwin (http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/). Why? Well, for one thing, he is a Constitutionalist (as in, the Constitution of the United States of America). That means that he would take seriously his oath to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution of the United States. If that was all any President ever did, he would always have my vote. So, Dr. Baldwin is a Constitutionalist.

Second. He would immediately lock-down the borders and expel the illegals. The invasion of our homeland and the excuses given by the liberals and the "conservatives" alike are not acceptable. We are in serious danger of losing our identity as Americans. The illegals are taking our jobs while our countrymen lose their homes. More than 20 million illegal aliens (conservative figure) in America are taking our jobs, destroying our culture, using up our resources and demanding that we "give" them citizenship. President Baldwin would do the politically incorrect thing and lock-down the borders and expel the invaders. Or, to put it simply, he would ENFORCE the law. As the Executive officer, that would be his job.

Next, he would get us out of NAFTA, CAFTA and any other "TA" that threatens our sovereignty and takes manufacturing and production out of the hands of our very capable and creative American industries. We Americans blazed the trial in manufacturing and now we are having to import our goods from countries using children and slaves to produce them. That is a shame! Our country has produced some of the best products in the world and it can once again, if we get the government out of the way. President Baldwin would do just that.

Abortion? What about abortion? President Baldwin would immediately write an executive order to stop ALL abortions, followed by a Constitutional amendment defining life as beginning at conception with all its rights protected. No more innocent blood would be shed.

The hand of God is being stayed by the prayers of a few. But soon, very soon, He will no longer be calmed by his mercy but will unleash his wrath on a once great and godly nation. We Christians are just as guilty of abortion because we continue to vote in these abortionists that claim to be pro-life. Yet, once in office, nothing is ever done to protect these precious, innocent babies.  President Baldwin WOULD!!

What about the war? What war? No war has been declared. Did the Congress declare war? When? I don't think so. Oh, you mean that mess in Iraq ? Well, before you Psuedo-Patriots get all worked-up, please consider this. If we really are threatened by any foreign enemy, President Baldwin will defend this country. But, it would be done CONSTITUTIONALLY. The founders instituted certain principles that would honor our personal freedoms while still defending our country. We don't give up our freedoms for the sake of security. President Baldwin would keep our Nation free and safe with a strong military and a sane foreign policy. And the military would have nothing to do with setting foreign policy, either.

The dollar is pretty much worthless anymore (thanks to Federal Reserve), so President Baldwin would reintroduce the silver certificate or some other silver or gold backed currency and return all the minting power back to its Constitutional intent (Article I, Sec 8, clause 5). But, it would NOT be the Amero.

Freedom of Speech would be restored in the pulpits. And pastors would no longer have any excuses for NOT preaching righteousness to an ignorant, sleepy church. The fiery, passionate sermons of yesteryear would once again echo throughout our country through spirit-filled preachers of righteousness who fear God more than man, who hunger for the Word more than popularity and who love souls more than money.

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms would once again be the only gun law we would need in America. That would greatly reduce, if not eliminate, the awful shootings of innocent and unarmed students and shoppers. And it would prevent tyranny by our own government.

In short all unconstitutional "laws" that are determined to be repugnant to the Constitution and thereby "null and void," would be eliminated from the books ... at long last!!

Quite a task, you say? Well, yes, of course. But it’s worth it to me. Isn’t it to you? “I (we) can do all things through Christ which strengthens me (us)” (Phil. 4:13).

Perhaps you're thinking that the answer is in the few Conservatives within the Republican Party. Haven't you been convinced yet? There is no hope within the Republican Party! It's gone! It’s just another political party through which the powerful elites in the CFR can manipulate the greedy, self-centered narcissists that pawn themselves off as “Representatives” of the people. Didn't this past Republican primary convince you of that? Man, you've been listening to too much Rush Limbaugh. The few "conservatives" who were running didn’t stand a chance. They were humored throughout the primaries as each one dropped out one by one. Then they turned right around and endorsed the “leader” to maintain some sense of victory within their own clueless minds. They just don't get it.

We the people must determine for ourselves that it is time to put the Constitution back in its rightful place of authority. It’s been in exile long enough.

The Republican Party refers to the Constitution but it doesn’t respect it. The Republican Party talks about freedom, but it doesn’t protect it. The Republican Party abhors abortion, but it doesn’t outlaw it. The Republican Party says all the right things but doesn’t do the right things, because it knows it can get away with it. And they're right! Many, much too many, of you will continue to stubbornly and arrogantly vote, support and ultimately excuse the Republican Party. They count on you to do that. They expect you to do that. They can depend on you doing that.

I supported Dr. Ron Paul, not because he was a Republican, but because he was a Constitutionalist. His being a Republican was incidental. Now that he no longer has a mathematical chance of winning and has no intention of running third party, I encourage all my fellow "Paulistas" to consider, seriously, the Constitution Party as our only chance to take our Constitution back. The only chance of taking our country back. The only chance of taking our freedoms back.

May the Lord continue to shed his mercy upon us until we, the Church of Jesus Christ, repent and turn from our carnality and become totally dependent on HIM.  Amen .

Modern Day "Barabbasites"

It just continues to amaze me how our modern day "Barabbasites" continue to have their way.

Remember Luke 23:13-25? We read in verse 18: "And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas." Here was a convicted robber (John 18:40), anarchist, traitor and murderer (Luke 23:25) who deserved his condemnation, yet the crowd was saying, "Give us Barabbas!"

This gullible mob had been manipulated by their leaders: "the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus" (Matt. 27:20). They had been convinced that Jesus was guilty of rebellion against Caesar (government), although Caesar's representative, Pilate, found no fault in him. Yet the crowd yelled, "Give us Barabbas!"

I wrest not the Scriptures. Allow me to make my point.

The modern day "Barabbasites" continue to yell today, "Give us Barabbas." When the very politicians they are calling for are guilty of robbery through unconstitutional taxes, guilty of anarchy in rebellion against the Constitution, guilty of treason with their defiant violation of their oath to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution, guilty of murdering a million and a half innocent babies a year without so much as an effort to pass a bill to outlaw abortion. Yeah, "give us Barabbas," that's exactly what we deserve.

Who are the "Barabbasites"? They are the gullible American Christians who have been convinced by their leaders (pastors and "Christian" politicians) that true Constitutionalists are guilty of rebellion against Caesar (government) and should be "crucified" (at least politically).

"Give us Barabbas!" they exclaim when they hold up their John McCain signs. "Give us Barabbas !" they cry when they hold up their Mitt Romney signs. "Give us Barabbas!" they yell when they pull the lever for Mike Huckabee. "Give us Barabbas!" they scream when they're dazzled by Rudy Giuliani.

And just like the crowd that wanted Barabbas had its way, this American crowd will also have its way. They will have their "Barabbas." Who will that ultimately be ? Well, only the Lord knows that. But a Barabbas he will be.

True Constitutionalists are considered extremists in today's political environment. Most Christians, because of their ignorance of the Bible and the Constitution, are led to believe that "Barabbas" is more trustworthy than the Constitutionalist. They quote Romans 13 blindly and claim that we should submit to the higher authorities. Yet they don't realize that the "higher authority" is the very one we're calling everyone's attention to: The Constitution.

What they are really saying, in their pseudo-sophisticated, uninformed way, is that we should submit to tyrants. Send your precious children to war at the whim of the tyrant ("give us Barabbas"). Bring your children back in cold body bags and wrapped in a flag ("give us Barabbas"). Allow the illegal invaders to come in and trample over everything we've built-- that's "Compassionate Conservatism" ("give us Barabbas"). Watch our beloved country crumble under the weight of tyrant irresponsibility ("give us Barabbas"). Watch your children grow up to be "Barabbasites" as they're forced into government schools after home schools and Christian schools are out-lawed by the tyrants ("give us Barabbas"). And yes, inject your babies with Mercury-laden vaccines, Barabbas says they're safe ("give us Barabbas").

Yeah, I know, I'm a wacko. That's just what a "Barabbasite" would say. And what should we do with wackos? "Crucify him, crucify him."

No, I'm not suggesting that we Christian Constitutionalists are perfect as Jesus or that we even measure up to his standard, but I do mean to illustrate the same relentless pursuit of righteousness that Jesus exemplified. We must not be persuaded by the "leaders" in politics, the church or the news media, to demand Barabbas as our choice. We must relentlessly pursue "Righteousness" in demanding that our government be restrained by the chains of the Constitution. The Barabbases of today don't give a squat about the Constitution, and the "Barabbasites" don't give one squat about the Bible. Not really.

Some of the worse "Barabbasites" I know stand behind pulpits every Sunday. These are the ones referred to as "elders" in Matthew 27:20.

Many of them have sent me the dreaded,"take me off your e-mail list" message. They fear the IRS more than they fear GOD. Their most prized possession is their 501(c)3 status. They fear the flock more than they fear the Chief Shepherd. They are full of pride and are arrogantly unteachable. The Bible is no more practical to them than it would be to an infidel. They don't dare admit that "they don't know." They are ignorant when it comes to the Constitution, but they don't dare admit it, thus remaining ignorant. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children" (Hosea 4:6). Not just ignorance but willful ignorance.

Yes, "the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus" (righteousness), and the spirit of that age continues in this age. James (paraphrased) said, "Don't many of you pretend to be teachers, knowing that we (teachers) shall be judged more severely" (James 3:1)

Many of the "sweet-treat" preachers will be in for a big surprise when they stand before the Lord and have to give an account for the worthless, shallow philosophies they pawned-off for preaching. But many of the "hard-shelled," toxic preachers will be in for a greater surprise when it's revealed that they were "teaching for doctrines the commandments of men" (Mark 7:7).

That's the influence that's "persuaded ... that they should ask Barabbas."

We continue to re-elect the "Barabbases" who have been proven to be robbers, anarchists, traitors and murderers.

An ignorant multitude can be persuaded to do just about anything (remember Jonestown?). Kool Aid, anyone? Yes, I'm afraid that the "Barabbasites" will, once again, have their way.

Who am I supporting? Well, it should be pretty obvious by now.
Dr. Ron Paul is the only Constitutionalist running for President in this primary season. All the others whether "conservative," "moderate" or "liberal," whether Republican or Democrat, are plainly and simply, Barabbases. I have no doubt that the Founding Fathers would endorse Dr. Ron Paul overwhelmingly.

Here are some websites to look into:

RonPaul2008.com
RonPaulforPresident2008.com
Christians for Ron Paul

Check him out completely.

Dr. Ron Paul only represents what we Constitutionalists believe. It's not just a campaign; it's a movement. The campaign will end, the movement will live on. It's not even about Ron Paul, but about what his message represents: Freedom. The kind of freedom for which our Founding Fathers mutually pledged to each other their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor.

There is an inherent spirit of liberty in God's people: "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Cor. 3:17b). And eventually God's people will have to come to terms with their own ignorance. They must recognize that they've been wilfully ignorant and extremely gullible in maintaining their arrogant and unteachable spirit. I'm trusting the Lord to do a work in the lives of my brethren, and in me, to love liberty more than seek security.

"Give us our Constitution," should be our cry, not, "give us Barabbas." Barabbas won't do anything but plunder, murder and betray us. The Constitution is all we have to guarantee the "unalienable rights" given to us by our Creator as expressed in the Declaration of Independence. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is still a worthwhile goal for all of us who love liberty (especially in the spiritual sense). We're obligated to hold our government accountable to the people as expressed in the Constitution. The fearmongering being used by some in our government is a leverage to pry our rights away from us. And it's working.

Our faith rests on Jesus Christ. And if we crash and burn as a nation, our faith rests on Jesus Christ. If we win in our battle for the restoration of our Constitution and our Republic, our faith rests on Jesus Christ. I'm trusting the Lord for my eternal security. I'm trusting the Lord for my temporal security. Either way in freedom or in bondage, I will trust the Lord.
But I cannot say that I trust the Lord if I demand,"Give us Barabbas." We must stand for righteousness and trust the Lord.

Will the "Barabbasites" continue to have their way? I fear they will. I trust they won't.

"Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people" (Proverbs 14:34).
